Today’s trivia:
- There’s a Leaning Tower of Wales: While Pisa gets all the fame, Caerphilly Castle in South Wales features a southeast tower that leans at a steeper angle (roughly 10 degrees) than the Leaning Tower of Pisa.
- The Dragon Flag: The Welsh flag, Y Ddraig Goch (The Red Dragon), is one of the few national flags in the world to feature a dragon
- March is peak lambing season in Wales, which is fitting as sheep outnumber people in the country at a ratio of 3-to-1, but you already know about sheep population?
- There are 29 letters in the Welsh alphabet, including 23 consonants and six vowels, compared to the English alphabet which has 26 letters made up of 21 consonants and five vowels.
After breakfast we made our way to the town of Hay-on-Wye, the so called town of books as it has over 20 book shops. Cheapish parking is provided on the edge of town and only a couple of minutes to the town centre. It also has slow charging stations where we managed to top up the car with about 17kWhr.
Apparently Sunday’s are the quiet days, which it seamed to be. There were more people in the limited open cafes and pubs than in the book shops. I think it is a case of look-at-me, look-at-me.
Typical google, took us on a journey that’s sometimesna bit questionable . . .

While Annette was book hunting, I chated with the owner of North Books about bathroom renos and how long they take and then with a little effort I’d worked out her brother lives in Ettalong as she said about 2hrs north of Sydney.

Then it was off to Richard Booth’s Bookshop which started the whole thing of books in town.

and finally the Murder and Mayhem bookstore where I said the customer is always right and the title of the book is wrong to the owner, she just laughed.

A further drive north, we found a quant little town called Clun with a great cafe, a free castle, which was actually a house and not a castle and The Old Bridge.

Town door knockers . . .

Today’s travels . . .
Coming soon, I hope once connectivity is regained
