Today’s trivia on Taile Day:
- It is the second day of a traditional two-day Scottish April Fool’s celebration.
- Participants, historically often children, aim to pin paper tails or “kick me” signs onto the backs of friends or passers-by.
- According to Scots Word of the Week: preen-tail day, it is a historic Scottish tradition sometimes referred to as “Preen-tail Day,” which refers to the pinning of tails.
- While the first day (“Hunt the Gowk”) focuses on sending people on phony errands, Tailie Day is for physical pranks on the person’s rear.
- In modern Scotland, the two days are often combined into a single April Fools’ Day on April 1, though some traditions persist.
We checked out the coffee at Satri, bit of a fail . . .

Although the double was OK, I didn’t get a water like the other tables did😭.
We had a quickish stop to charge the car at Arnold Clark, a Renault car dealer. Lots of EV cars for sale and descent charging spot where you can go in and get a coffee and biscuit I was told by a local while he was charging too.
On our way, a few roundabouts came in handy where I’d missed the exit, so just went around again, sometimes twice. You’d think I’d have learnt the first time around!
We stopped at Inveraray Castle as it looked picturesque when crossing the Aray Bridge. It wasn’t quiet so close up.

Moving along, the road was windy, bit narrow for 70mph (110km/hr) and too many road works or traffic lights in narrow villages.

Took a left turn at Arduaine Garden, which turned out to be a Nationa Trust site. How good is that? Free entry plus bonus use of toilets. How good is that too?

It was windy and hence cold. The lass at entry said, Oh no, Spring doesn’t happen till May😱. First honest Scott we’ve met.

It just started to rain as we left. How good is that?
We’re in the Junior Suite. I said to the 2IC, I wonder what the Senior Suite is like. I won’t bother telling you what the response was.
Nooooo . . .

A warm welcome . . .

Dinner was spoilt by a family of obnoxious, loud and self entitled 🇺🇲’s.

Today’s travels . . .
Not coming soon, as I forgot to log it.
